“A father is someone you look up to, no matter how tall you grow.” – Unknown
This year for Father’s Day, we wanted to hear from our community on their favorite moments with their fathers, or if they’re fathers, their favorite moments with their children. We have the opportunity to share some beautiful photos, and special memories over the years.
Jennifer Harler gave us a tradition that started young, one that she still shares with her father to this day. “My favorite memory of my Dad as a child is waking him up super early on winter mornings and singing to him the Sky Bears song. We would all get bundled up in our winter clothes and go out and sled or build a snowman and top off the day with hot chocolate and marshmallows. As an adult one of my other favorites is attending the Indians/Seattle Mariners playoff game and chanting Ichiro who was playing outfield right in front of us. And as the rout was on, chanting for Johnny Rocker to come in and close out the game for the Indians. “
“My dad is so special to me, he’s my superhero in every way. He raised me to be proud of myself, and he taught me important life lessons. The best memories would have to be the moments we spend talking about comic books, playing dungeons and dragons, or calling each other to discuss the latest Marvel film and all that goes along with it. He’s the biggest nerd, but that’s my favorite thing about him.” Stephanie Tanke
“One of my fondest memories with my dad was when I was 13 years old and he surprised me with a random trip to Six Flags. We had the best time going on all the biggest rollercoasters, I will never forget that. Another thing I love about my dad is how much he loves to scare people! He will wait around a wall or a bush for someone to walk by and jump out and scare them and it is hilarious… unless he’s scaring me, then it’s not funny!!! My dad is the greatest and I am lucky to have him.” – Letice Jolle
Johnny Burchett shared with us some of his favorite activities to do with his two young sons. “My favorite things to do with my boys is being outdoors with them, watching them explore life and having fun being a kid! We are always looking for our next big adventure. I am one lucky Dad to have these boys in my life!”
Raymond Jones shared an old, classic photograph with his father from when he was a young child.
For everyone celebrating Father’s Day this year, we hope you are able to create wonderful new memories with your families, and remember with love the fathers and grandfathers that are no longer with us. Fathers are a special gift to each family, and we are happy to share our favorite moments with ours!
