Data Center Site Cost

The cost of property can be affected by many things, but none more so than the age old truth in real estate: location, location, location. A site may be located close to existing company buildings for easy access. However, with remote monitoring and automation, proximity isn’t as crucial at it was at one time.

A disaster recovery site is typically located at least 150 miles from the main data center to minimize downtime in the event of a disaster. Reducing capital expenditures should be a focus, but not at the risk of increased operational costs. If done poorly, this could actually increase total cost of ownership exponentially.
